I had to conquer that fear!! Anyway, since I can't upload pics anymore, Rebekah, my sister, was sweet enough to upload them to her blog first! Thanks, Rebekah! My Last Random Post Before Becoming A Married Lady...

Yes, Everyone, this is my last post before becoming Mrs. Jennifer! This week is going to be hectic enough without trying to blog, but I wanted to squeeze in one more post! So, I thought that I would post some random facts about me and different things to finish this stage in my life:

1. I love my southern hair...yes, my sisters tease me all the time, because I still love my voluminous hair! :) Southern Hair with the curls and hairspray and I am happy!

2. I'm not much on sarcasm or negative comments.

3. I was raised calling people over 21 Miss and Mr. or Mrs. and Mr. until I know they are younger than me or they ask to be called by something different. (Another southern trait...along with yes ma'am and no sir) What's so funny is I've called friend's siblings Miss by mistake....let's just say they had a good laugh...but it is so hard to break a habit! ;)

4. I love to laugh! Giggle! Smile!

5. I've only had one boyfriend...

6. If I could choose a time period to live in, it would be the early 1900s. Love the hair and the dresses.

7. I'm not usually a morning person, but I'm getting better at it!

8. I'm getting ready, Lord willing, to start my dream job. Becoming a wife and homemaker! Plus, I'll have the most awesome and dream employer!

9. I'm not much of a shopper unless I have cash...I love to "look" shop sometimes, but it is so much funner to even just have a couple dollars and shop. Plus, they always say at the ladies' meetings, "Don't go shopping unless you have money or you need something!" But it is fun to go sometimes! :) (Have you not figured out that I'm a complex person? hahahahhaa...)

10. I love countdowns...especially to November 27....5 more days!!!!!

So, no more posts until after our wedding with hopefully plenty of pics!!!

A Gift from a Friend

Photobucket

Isn't it beautiful? I just told Mama the other day that I didn't have any doilies to put around the house after Jonathan and I are married, but I didn't know where to find any at other than shopping in antique stores. (if you're southern, you have to have at least one doily in your home somewhere!) Anyway, this is another little thing the Lord does to show His love! He hears even our little wants...even the ones that we don't always ask for just to show that He loves us! Again, getting back to the story...after I said that, a dear lady friend gave me some country curtains the other day that she wasn't going to use anymore, and when we went to clean them, there was a little doily right on top! But that wasn't the best thing! Today, we went to meet some friends at McD's, and the oldest daughter, Carol made me this large beautiful doily by hand! Thank you, Carol! I love it!!!!

Are you a crybaby Christian?

crying baby

1 Corinthians 3:1-3

And I, brethren, could not speak unto you as unto spiritual, but as unto carnal, even as unto babes in Christ.  I have fed you with milk, and not with meat: for hitherto ye were not able to bear it, neither yet now are ye able.

For ye are yet carnal: for whereas there is among you envying, and strife, and divisions, are ye not carnal, and walk as men?

Have you ever met a crybaby Christian? A baby doesn't know what is good for him....he is constantly whining when he doesn't feel good, when he's not in a good mood, when he is not entertained...when the attention is not focused on himself...a baby doesn't feed himself, doesn't share, sometimes hits and bites and spits (trust me they will!), gets dirty diapers...an all around crybaby!

I have to say that as a Christian, I'm guilty of being that...a crybaby! I hate to see it in others, but when it comes to me, it is so hard not to be one sometimes...but you know what it is really sad...a baby who never grows...whose spiritual growth is retarded. That is a true sad fact. That we can be those babies! Oh, may we desire to be one of God's children that is constantly desiring the milk of the Word, but also the meat of His Word! The Bible never says that we are lost, because we still are babies, but when you stand before the Lord, and you think back across your Christian life, how will you stand? Will you have grown into a mature adult child of the King or will you be standing there in your dirty diapers?

Remember the song in Sunday school about reading your Bible and praying everyday and you grow, but if forget to read your Bible and pray, you'll shrink. Our growth in the Lord must be a constant effort on our part through the work of the Lord through His Word. I'm not saying that we work for our salvation or to keep ourselves saved, but we must make an effort to feed on the right things. We must choose! Yes, it is with the Holy Spirit's help that we are able to grow and learn about our Lord, but the same is true with our relationship with our earthly father. Daddy is still my daddy, but you know what? I can still be his child yet never really know him, never learn about what pleases him, never love him like I should, because I never made the effort to grow close to him...I never grew in my relationship with my daddy! The same is true with our heavenly Father. If I don't make the effort to know Him or draw close to Him, I'm going to remain that whiny crybaby...

James 4:8  Draw nigh to God, and he will draw nigh to you. Cleanse your hands, ye sinners; and purify your hearts, ye double minded.

Psalms 73:28  But it is good for me to draw near to God: I have put my trust in the Lord GOD, that I may declare all thy works.

2 Peter 3:18  But grow in grace, and in the knowledge of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. To him be glory both now and for ever. Amen.

Every effort of growing and learning more about our Lord and Saviour is a command for us! When we are saved, it is not just "POOF!" You know your Father, you know the Lord! No, our daily walk and relationship with the Lord is a constant task for us to work on, but what is so wonderful is the fact that we are not drawing alone, growing alone, learning alone, walking alone, our Lord is right their drawing close as we are drawing close to Him...one more verse: John 15:5  I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing. You know, we have to make the choice to grow and learn about our Saviour, but still, without Him, we can't do it! If we have the desire to learn more about Him and ask Him to help us as we study His Word, then surely He will help us!

Thankful Monday's

I love this time of year!!! Thanksgiving and Christmas, such wonderful times of the year...my favorite time of the year! So, for November, I'm going take Monday's and list some things that I'm thankful for. Really we should take every day of the year to thank the Lord for His richest blessings...even on the days when we don't feel like being thankful! :) Yes, we all have those days for sure! Sometimes they seem more prevalent, but that's when we must offer sacrifices of thanksgiving and praise...I was reading something recently about that...I can't remember the exact way the writer was describing it, but I do remember she said that there are days that we truly don't feel like being thankful...I think sometimes as ladies we are on a roller coaster of emotions...we can be up today and down tomorrow, we are more easily affected by circumstances...but what that she was saying was that we must create good habits...habits of thankfulness not a critical spirit...it must be a sacrifice of praise and thanksgiving...boy, how much that would be an improvement on our attitude! I know on the days that the devil tries to get me down, I can just sit there and wallow in my critical attitude (self centeredness) (which I have to say I do...ok...I'm not perfect...would like to be, but I'm still a sinner!) or I can just start thanking the Lord...it is not easy some days...but anyway what I was saying, on those days, we have to "Rejoice in the Lord alway: and again I say rejoice." (Phil. 4:4)...no matter what, we do have the Lord to rejoice in...so here we go, "THANFUL MONDAY'S"

Psalms 107:21-22
Oh that men would praise the LORD for his goodness, and for his wonderful works to the children of men!

And let them sacrifice the sacrifices of thanksgiving, and declare his works with rejoicing."

Okay, so here is what I am thankful for this Monday:

1. I'm so thankful that my Jesus stays the same! What a blessing that is! That He hears me! Another thing that is wonderful is the fact my salvation does not depend on how I feel, how much I trust, how much I realize, or ME, but it is on my Saviour! Praise the Lord!!! My Jesus holds my salvation and me in HIS hands!

2. I'm so thankful for my wonderful family. My Daddy who has paid for my wedding...no, that's not the only thing my Daddy has done, but he has been such a godly example of what a real man is! My Mama has been helping so much lately getting stuff ready for the wedding...she has done so much more, too ;)...Mama has been such a godly example, too...such a wonderful Mama...teaching us girls what a true lady should be! My sisters have been my best friends...I'm going to miss ya'll!!!! Our times of going to McD's...looking for all the change in the house just to get a hamburger while Daddy and Mama were out of town on their anniversary trip! ;)

3. I'm thankful for my Jonathan! Yes, very thankful for the wonderful Christmas gift that I got last year from the Lord! As of today, we are down to 19 days!! Woohoo!!!! I am so thankful that the Lord has blessed me with the man of my dreams and prayers. I prayed that the Lord would send me a godly young man that loved the Lord, served the Lord faithfully in his church, saved :), loved children, family oriented, loves the bus ministry, older than me, taller than me, good worker...I could list the whole list, but one thing specific that was kind of silly was, I didn't want my man to play the piano, weird right? well, guess what? the Lord gave me even that desire! I am so thankful!!

Happy Thankful Monday's!!!!!

Prayer Still Works...

Matthew 7:7 Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you:

Just got a message from a friend of mine from West Coast, and she had an awesome prayer answered!!!! Woohoo!!! The young man that she had been praying about called her dad and asked to court her!!!! Aren't you glad that we can pray about the "little" things that are important to us? God is so very good!!!!!

So Thankful...He's Holding on to Me...

Higher Ground...

I’m pressing on the upward way,
New heights I’m gaining every day;
Still praying as I’m onward bound,
“Lord, plant my feet on higher ground.”

Refrain

Lord, lift me up and let me stand,
By faith, on Heaven’s table land,
A higher plane than I have found;
Lord, plant my feet on higher ground.

My heart has no desire to stay
Where doubts arise and fears dismay;
Though some may dwell where those abound,
My prayer, my aim, is higher ground.

Refrain

I want to live above the world,
Though Satan’s darts at me are hurled;
For faith has caught the joyful sound,
The song of saints on higher ground.

Refrain

I want to scale the utmost height
And catch a gleam of glory bright;
But still I’ll pray till Heav’n I’ve found,
“Lord, plant my feet on higher ground.”

Refrain

A Song for the Mothers...

I was typing out the song that will be sung as the mothers walk down during the wedding and I thought that I would share it on here. Yes, it is one of those ones that brings the tears...it is such a beautiful song!

Covered By Prayer

By Mrs. Bonita Epley

Verse 1:

When you were very small, I’d slip into your room

And cover you with blankets soft and warm.

Protecting you from chilly air, I’d kiss my little baby there

And wrap them tight around your tiny form.

But seasons come and seasons go

How quickly time does fly

And the kiss I give to you now says “Goodbye."

No longer can I cover you to keep from the cold,

But I still have another way

In prayer my hands I fold.

Chorus:

I’ve covered you with prayer

Against the coldness of the world.

Where ever you may go, I hope you’ll always know

I’ve covered you with prayer

God’s promises are true

And He’s protecting you

No matter where you are He’s there

And I’m covering you with prayer.

One Month Away...

The countdown is surely getting closer! Time is ticking away and there is still plenty left to do on my list. Still things to buy, but we are starting to narrow down somethings...

  1. Invitations are out this week! This is a BIG check mark on my list!
  2. Gifts for the Bridesmaids are bought.
  3. Flowers paid for.
  4. Cake situations may be about to be resolved (This is a major expense! Who knew that flour, sugar, eggs, and such could amount to $800.00! After we found that out, we decided to try somewhere like Walmart, but we went to a party that they messed up a cake. I started having second thoughts about having them do it. So, I thought, "Why not pray about it?" Isn't it amazing how the Lord will answer even our smallest prayers? So, right after I prayed about it during daddy's sermon, we had a visiting preacher and his wife there on Sunday night, and she came up to mama after church and told her that her mother makes wedding cakes! We are supposed to meet with her on Thursday. Please pray that all goes well!
  5. Wedding gown fits perfectly! I love it!
  6. Bridal Portraits are going to be done on Saturday by Mrs. Shoshanna at 2:00.
  7. Wedding hairstyle decided on!
  8. Bridesmaids dresses altered.
  9. Order of service typed out, just needs to be handed out!
  10. Singers lined up! Music for singers picked out...this was very hard for me...I love music!
These are just a few things done, but lots more to do! 1 month to go til I marry my Sweetheart!!! And the Lord has been so good!

While Jonathan was working during the day, we unpacked our kitchen stuff and were able to get all that in order! I'm so happy with how everything turned out! Hope ya'll enjoy my cute country kitchen! :)

I am thankful for...God's promises...Isn't it good that God never changes? I am also thankful for my family, for my Daddy providing for us (especially our wedding :D), for my Mama teaching us girls to be the ladies the Lord would have us to be..
From the kitchen...oatmeal and coffee...but sadly, I dropped the oatmeal, and was just stuck with coffee...

I am wearing...a yellow shirt and you can probably guess...yes...a denim skirt...

I am creating...Thank you notes! Thank you notes galor!

I am going...to teach music this afternoon, write thank you notes, work on some stuff for Daddy for our youth rally on Friday, get a call this evening...<3 <3 <3!!!

My favorite things...being courted :) (Jonathan does such a good job!), McD's (yes, I still love McD's...the Diet Coke is my down fall...along with a BigMac occasionally...bad for me I know...), the bus kids (even the ones that think they are tough...hahaha...it's kind of funny...they are the ones that have more to do with the little kids...I think some of them are the ones that I'll miss the most), seeing Christmas decorations in the stores, browsing the clearance aisles even if I don't see anything I want...

Such were some of you...

This was something that has been on my mind lately...not necessarily about the title (that's the video), but something that I have been convicted of. It was praising the Lord for what He has done...do I really praise the Lord for what He has done for me? Do I truly realize how good He has been? Do I thank Him? Do I praise Him to others?
I'm afraid I don't as I should...if I am to be totally honest, I am not thankful enough...I don't truly realize how much the Lord has done for me...I am an ungrateful child...but yet, He loves me...How? or Why? I have no clue...but He does! I am definitely a spoiled child...Oh the Lord has been so good!

But anyway, I wanted to share this video! Let's start praising the Lord for what He has done!

For Your Enjoyment!
